Hello admin. Well, what you posted isn't 100% accurate. A lot of that depends on where the videoclip came from. Example:
I'm using a translated version of vShare 2.6 in germany. There, the use of special characters such as ... Ä - Ü - Ö - ß - ä - ü - ö ... are almost as common as standard vowels. All of the translated files use the correct UTF encoding in order to display such characters, and all of that works fine too, throughout the entire site.
BUT ... if I select clips from videoswiper which originally came from germany, in other words, clips that already contained such special characters since the german user made use of them in their upload descriptions ... then those characters ARE NOT displayed correctly on our server. Every single clip that has such characters shows up instead with something like ... heck, it's not even on my keyboard. But each of those shows up with TWO other, incorrect characters instead. In other words, instead of the word SCHÖN that's part of the clip description, I end up with SCH§#N instead (different symbols though). Then I have to edit those descriptions in order to replace such characters with the correct ones. This is as of September 25th 2008 with vShare version 2.6 and the properly installed Mod from videoswiper.
Greetings from Germany.
